On June 14th-24th, Larry Murphy led a mission team comprised of team members from three different Alabama churches (Grace Place in Enterprise, Hopewell Baptist Church in Andalusia, and Grace Baptist Church in Snead) to Children’s Hope in Haiti. Their primary project focus was the completion of the school benches/desks for several of the Children’s Hope schools, but they also were able to serve and minister in several other key ways. The team arrived on Saturday and began cutting out the 30 desks. Sunday, they attended Pastor Marc’s church and had a great time worshiping the Lord along with the Haitian believers there. Monday, work continued on the desks. By Wednesday, the desks were all completed! On Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, the team was able to complete delivery of fifteen of the 30 desks. The pastors of the churches where the schools are held were so excited when the desks were delivered.
Additionally, the three ladies on the team conducted sewing classes at Pastor Marc’s church on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of an ongoing Children’s Hope initiative there. Many local ladies were in attendance and experienced a joyful time. Several other small projects were also completed such as casing the doors in the surgical center, repairing tables at the orphanage, and installing electrical outlets in the mission house.
The team shared that the highlight of the week came on Tuesday night when they attended the worship service at the children’s home. It was a blessing for them to see these young children and their nannies praising the Lord with such passion, and the team members’ hearts were filled with joy to unite with them in worship.
Children’s Hope is thankful for this great team and their faithful and effective service in Jacmel, and we also thank all of those who participated in the school bench project through your giving! These new desks will be a huge help and blessing for our schools this fall.
