Samford/Auburn Mission Trip: Dec. 2015

Our daughter, Beth, led a team of Samford and Auburn students along with a Samford staff member to CH in December.  There were 12 in all.

On Saturday, some of the team members did art and ballet with the kids at CH.  They also took the older kids to the beach which is always a treat.  The water was beautiful and calm on this particular day!  They ended the day with a Backyard Bible Club that meets in a community close to CH.

On Sunday, the team worshiped at Pastor Paul’s church.  More art and ballet took place in the afternoon with the kids at CH.  Then the team spent time preparing for the rest of the week.  Jared and Sarah McCrory led the team and CH staff in worship that night.

The next couple of days, the team traveled to remote parts up in the mountains where teams had never been before.  One was in the Cap Rouge area and the other around Lavalee.  Both trips involved some long and rough hikes up mountains after a lot of rain!

Some of the team members met with Haitian teens at Pastor Marc’s church in the evenings for Bible study.  The Haitian teens asked many deep questions that resulted in some good discussions.

The week also included organizing Christmas gifts for the kids at CH.  A big thanks to a Sunday School class from Coosada BC that provided gifts for the children.  The MOPS group at Vaughn Forest BC provided gifts for the babies.

Some members of the team helped out at the medical/dental clinic while the two guys on the team worked on the new playground.

The week ended by giving a big party for the kids at CH!
