Since the initial connection in Haiti until now, we have seen God do amazing things- changing the lives of countless, children and families, and bringing much-needed help and hope to dozens of communities. The initial vision of supporting a small orphanage in Haiti has expanded to our current work as we care for children, strengthen families, and serve communities through a variety of programs.
The Lord guided us to a group of sixteen children living in a tent in Jacmel, Haiti in 2010. It was clear that Children’s Hope was to step out in faith and provide a permanent home for these children. Now we have an ideal property which is home to around fifty children. They are cared for by our outstanding Haitian staff and leadership team, and are thriving in a home of light, love, and hope.
As our ministry began to expand in Jacmel, the need to help the local churches provide much-needed education for low-income and rural families became apparent. Currently, Children’s Hope is supporting and administrating 7 church schools in the Jacmel area. These students, who would otherwise be unable to attend any school, now receive a quality education, a daily meal, uniforms, school supplies and biblical instruction.
The physical/medical needs seen in Haiti are great, and adequate medical care is scarce and expensive. We prayed that we would be able to help meet the medical, dental and spiritual needs of our neighbors. Through dedicated supporters and construction teams, we opened a community medical/dental clinic in 2015. The clinic now serves over 4000 community members. We have an outstanding staff of Haitian physicians, nurses, a dentist, a lab technician, administrator, and support staff. is equipped with six treatment rooms, a pharmacy, and a modern laboratory.
Mission Team Ministry
God has drawn hundreds of people and dozens of churches to serve in Jacmel and in the Jeremie area each year. In partnership with Haitian churches and pastors, teams are able to meet needs and share Jesus in a variety of ways. Team members become the hands and feet of Christ as they provide medical/dental care, participate in outreach events, provide training and conferences in the local churches, conduct vacation bible schools, do evangelism, help in the church schools, and build relationships with Haitians. The Lord has used these short-term volunteers to make a tremendous difference in countless lives in the name of Jesus. We see over 5000 Haitians engaged and served by our teams in some way each year, including thousands that hear the Gospel each year.
