Construction began in August 2012 of six homes for up to 50 orphaned, abused and abandoned children on a five acre parcel of land. In addition, a director’s house, a mission house, a basketball court, a playground and a medical clinic have been completed, with a surgery center under construction on the property.
The number of children coming to Children’s Hope continues to rise. There are many Haitian children in need of a good, safe and loving home. Some of our children were orphaned by the 2010 earthquake. Others were abused or abandoned and some were restaveks (a term used for child slave). We also have children whose families simply could not provide food or shelter. Regardless of the reason, each child coming into the care of CH needs to know they are loved, that they now have a safe and secure home, and that they have value and purpose in the eyes of our loving Heavenly Father.
Beyond basic needs, the children are also enrolled in school, receive weekly tutoring, participate in a variety of special activities, and receive Biblical teaching and attend church regularly. The children are so full of love and life! It takes just a short time for visitors and team members to fall in love with them!
