FBC Montgomery: Feb. 2016 – Part 1

A big thanks to Michelle for sharing the following summary and pictures of their trip to CH and for leading this team!!!

Mike and Michelle LeGrand led a team of 18 members to CH in Feb.  Their team consisted of 1 neurologist, 1 pathologist, 1 lab expert, 2 dentists, 2 hygienists, and 7 kids and several regular old adults. 🙂

We had several objectives for this trip:

1. Spread the Gospel!  We did this by holding a time of Bible Study and fun activities for the children of 3 churches, and one Backyard Bible Study; we estimated speaking to over 300 children!

2. Provide quality Dental care to the people of Jacmel. Drs Denney and LeGrand treated all of the Children’s Hope children and Nannies, and many people from the area. There is a pastor who volunteers and comes to the clinic to present the Gospel to the people waiting or just getting done with the doctor or dentist.

3. As an encouragement and ministry to Children’s Hope missionaries, we hosted a “Fun Family Night” for the Paynes, Mouers, and Peters’.  Complete with an American meal of beef tenderloin and several rounds of “Minute to Win It” in which Dr. G impressed us all with his skills.

We went to a backyard Bible study hosted by a lady named Mirto and her husband. They are self-funded and have a heart for the children in their village. The Bible study was held at the sight of their future home. We enjoyed a sweet time of worship and fellowship with the children there. Several of our team members remarked about the peace we could feel while we were there. When Allison, the host at the Alabama house heard this, she said the area we were in is full of voodoo. We just felt that was a reminder to us that our Lord goes before us, and is always with us! He is Light in the darkness.

Prayer Requests: Please pray for the workers at the clinic. Please pray for all who come to the clinic seeking treatment. Please pray that more dentists and doctors will feel and heed God’s call to provide treatment to the people of Jacmel. Please pray for Mirto and her husband, pray that they will be encouraged and able to continue the good work The Lord started through them. Please ask The Lord for spiritual, emotional and physical protection of the children of that Bible study. Pray that they will continue to grow in Christ’s image and pray that they will begin to spread the Gospel in their homes and villages.

Special thanks to the Williams’ class who raised money for “entertainment baskets” we were able to give each pilot of MAF.  to Lisa Powell’s WMU group for a special time of prayer over Michelle, Celia, and Sara and goodie bags for the nannies of Children’s Hope; to the 3rd graders at Trinity Presbyterian School for countless fruit snacks that we were able to give to the kids we came in contact with;  to the Powell class for crayons and markers we used while there and donated to the schools. And to special friends for your donation of Beef tenderloins. Your kindness and generosity were blessings to so many in Jacmel!
